Cookie and analytics notice
Status: Draft — counsel review required
Version: 0.1.0-draft
Last-updated: 2026-07-20
This notice explains how TUNES uses cookies and similar technologies on https://tunesurvey.com under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR.
In-app native recording on iOS is not a website cookie context; device permissions and the privacy notice apply there.
1. What we use
| Type | Purpose | Consent? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Security, load balancing, session/login, remembering cookie preferences | Usually no (PECR exception) — we still tell you |
| Analytics / statistics | Aggregate visits to improve the site | Consent, unless we implement a PECR statistical purposes exception design (aggregate, non-identifying, improve our service only) |
| Marketing / advertising | Not used at foundation | N/A — do not enable without updating this notice |
2. Your choices
- You can accept or reject non-essential cookies. Reject must be as easy as accept.
- You can change your mind via Cookie settings (link in footer).
- Browser controls can also block cookies; some features may stop working.
We will not set non-essential cookies before you consent (unless a documented PECR exception applies and we give clear information plus a simple way to object).
3. Third parties
If we use a third-party analytics provider, we will name them here and in the privacy notice, and ensure they only process data for our stated purpose (or obtain consent accordingly). Transfers outside the UK are described in the privacy notice.
Working default for early beta: prefer first-party, aggregate analytics that can rely on the PECR statistical-purposes exception; avoid advertising pixels.
4. Retention
Cookie lifetimes will be listed in Cookie settings (session vs persistent). Persistent preference cookies should be justified and not longer than needed (e.g. preference memory on the order of months, not years, unless justified).
